Richard Whittle – Director
Richard is an energetic and dynamic Director of Protolan. With over 16 years experience in the food industry, Richard understands the challenging aspects of delivering effective process management solutions and identifying innovation amongst businesses operating in the food and beverage sector.
Richard has strong communication skills and business acumen which is supported by his ability to work with diverse clients and stakeholders. He has established a successful career working with blue chip FMCG companies delivering strategic and technical advice across a range of sectors. Richard has a remarkable knowledge and passion for the food industry.
Richard leads a close knit, multi-disciplinary team of innovative and technologically advanced professionals to deliver manufacturing excellence to the food industry. Under his guidance, the team deliver multi-faceted capital projects resolving equipment, process, building and engineering challenges for Protolan’s clients.

Emma Brown – Associate Director
Emma is a successful customer focused Project Manager whose expertise has been integral in delivering successful capital projects.
With over 18 years’ experience, Emma has proven skills in Project Management, New Product Development and Process Technology, having worked for/with some of the UK’s major food manufacturing companies.

Ben Edney – Associate Director
Ben is a talented and enthusiastic Project Manager and Team Leader with over 15 years’ experience. A proven track record in all aspects of the project lifecycle within highly pressurised industries.

Jim Bird – Project Engineering Manager
Jim is a professional Projects Engineering Manager with experience of Project Management and delivering engineering functions to the food industry.
With over 24 years’ experience, Jim has proven skills in Project Management, Major Site Development and Process Technology, having worked for/with some of the UK’s major food manufacturing companies.

James Peden – Project Engineering Manager
James is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over 25+ years experience within the food industry.
Having worked for many of the largest global manufacturers he brings a wealth of experience and skills from within the process, product development and implementation areas.
Experienced in leading projects and multinational teams across multiple locations he has worked in many regions around the world ensuring projects were delivered on-time, in-full.

Mitch Clark – Project Engineer
Mitch graduated from University of Nottingham with a 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Prior to joining Protolan on a full-time basis, Mitch worked with us as a summer intern and proved to be a versatile and practical project engineer.
His passion for engineering, coupled with his ability to work seamlessly with client teams, has proved to be a great asset on several high profile projects. Mitch has recently been an integral part of Protolan’s project with longstanding client Morrisons. He is currently working on a project at Heinz.
Sam Riedy – Business Development Manager
Sam runs our business development department and has a wealth of experience within the Food and Drink industry. She spends her time coming up with innovative ways to communicate to our clients the great things Protolan can do for them.
