Fresh Eyes Evaluation for Cut Flower Specialist

After a period of rapid growth, a cut flower specialist who supply the UK’s leading retailers was looking to analyse their operational business performance

The Challenge

A cut flower specialist was looking to improve their business performance and required Protolan to assist in mapping end-to-end current-state line manning and throughputs against existing specification. Protolan also carried out a Fresh Eyes Evaluation looking into opportunities for improvement from all aspect of their business.

Delivering Success

All production lines and SKUs were reviewed, and the current state was mapped out which measured manning, job roles, strike rates and throughputs end-to-end from feeding of raw materials across to production, packing and palletising. Based on this, an automation assessment provided recommendations for areas with a high manual input alongside suggestions for suitable automation solutions and an analysis of costings which showed potential weekly savings on labour. Following this, a Fresh Eyes Evaluation report was presented to the company in two bespoke formats. This allowed for them to ensure each SKU is manned effectively to optimise operations and performance. Further opportunities to improve were also recommended through an in-depth analysis from all areas leading to effective business expansion that included goods and dispatch handling, refrigeration, and storage automation.
